Explore the enormous herds of the Great Migration making crossings of the Grumeti
A focused safari that tracks the Great Migration inside Serengeti, positioning you on the river systems where crossings occur.
Two variants are offered: Western Corridor & Grumeti River (May–July) and Northern Serengeti & Mara River (July–October). Outside the main crossing months, we can pivot to the Ndutu/Calving Season (Dec–Mar) for intense predator action.
May–July: Arusha → Central Serengeti → Western Corridor (Grumeti) → Ngorongoro → Arusha
July–Oct: Arusha → Central Serengeti → Northern Serengeti (Kogatende/Lamai) → Ngorongoro → Arusha
Duration: 7 Days / 6 Nights
Travel Style: Private, with the option to include internal flights to maximize time in the park
Best Time: Grumeti crossings: late May – early July, Mara River crossings: July – October, Calving (Ndutu): late January – February (alternative routing available)

Arrival in Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to your luxury lodge.
Meals: Dinner.
Arusha – Central Serengeti
Breakfast and early departure. Fly (recommended) or drive via Ngorongoro highlands to Serengeti. Enter the park by late morning/early afternoon; game drive to camp via the Seronera River, famous for leopard and resident big cats.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Overnight: Central Serengeti.
Central Serengeti – Migration Zone
Morning drive in Central to catch predators on the move. After an early lunch, relocate to the seasonal migration zone:
Grumeti Variant (May–July): Head west through the Nyasirori and Kirawira plains to the Grumeti River.
Mara Variant (July–Oct): Head north via Lobo hills to Kogatende/Lamai near the Mara River.
Arrive for an afternoon game drive and sunset at your camp.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Full Day on the River System
Full day dedicated to following the herds. Your guide will position you at likely crossing points, balancing patience with smart repositioning. Midday rest back at camp; late-afternoon drive when light is golden and predators become active.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch (picnic), Dinner.
Overnight: Migration zone camp.
Second Full Day with the Migration
Another dawn-to-dusk immersion. Depending on activity, you might split time between riverbanks and rich grazing plains behind the front lines, where hunting is frequent. Optional dawn hot-air balloon (where available).

Migration Zone – Ngorongoro Highlands
Leisurely morning drive as you exit the migration area. Travel back via Olduvai Gorge (optional museum stop) to the crater rim. Check in to a lodge with sweeping views over the caldera.

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha / Departure
Early descent 600 m to the crater floor for concentrated big-game viewing—black rhino, lion prides, large tuskers, and flamingo-rimmed Lake Magadi. Picnic on the floor, then drive to Arusha for drop-off or onward flight.
